It is going to be a really really fun month that is purposely shifting our focus to aesthetics and fat loss. We are not going to play nice, we are going fuel a fire that will burn baby burn!

So, how do you create a program that in only 30 days will help a group of people melt their fat away? It's simple. If you know the secrets of the inner circle of course. And since you are reading this, you are officially in! Good news for you, huh?

There are tons of ways to really get one to lose pounds on the scale, but what we want is FAT LOSS. So here is the secret:

Hard Work.

Ah man, what a let down. He reeled me in and didn't give me a magic pill or miraculous equation that will cure my overweight flappy love handles. The truth is, it comes down to your increased energy expenditure, aka you workouts. Which for us are built around 2-days of strength training and 2-days of conditioning, and 1-day per week of mobility/flexibility training. It also comes down to, largely, and most importantly, your nutrition. In our Forge Challenge we require everyone to journal what they are eating and drinking. Each week we evaluate food logs and give feed back. You see, hard work is not only important in the physical battle of The Forge. It plays a large part in the mental side.

You are going to have cravings. You are going to think you feel hungry. You are going to want to give up and say oh well. But those are the very habits that got you to where you are today. We need to overcome those habits and fight back to gain control. It's not only you in the forge, sweating, feeling the heat. It is also your cravings, behaviors, and decisions that want to sabotage. We will fight as a team to break through and defeat these things.

I often will hear from students, "I use to drink this many sodas a day, BLAH", or "I use to hide the fact that I ate drive thru food from my family", and even "I used to be so depressed that I didn't even want to look in the mirror anymore."

Do you know why they dread the mirror and the scale? It has nothing to do with what society is doing or what our parents did to us. It comes down to our own habits and behaviors that we have created. In our upcoming book, REWIRED, we take the standard nutritional coaching model and crack it open. It is time for some introspection into our lives. It's time to dig deeper into our choices and decisions to see what makes us think. Then, we can rewire the way we think with education and motivation, to shift our entire culture from the bottom up.

But first, you have to ask yourself. Are you ready? Are you really ready? Not for the workouts, or the clean eating... but are you ready for Hard Work?
